Great Gatsby Book Cover

Description

Have you ever read the Great Gatsby, while I have for my 10th grade English class. I had no prior knowledge what it was about. I thought it might have been something about a surreal science fiction book. What can I saw all I had going for me was a book cover of floating eyes in a starry back ground. What was I supposed to think it was about?

Well I made this book cover to show more to it's theme of the 1920s. With the parties, style, and the old color scheme you get a better idea of what this book has in it.

I mean come on floating eyes who designed that book cover, it did nothing for me but fill me up with hope for some really bizarre story. It only made the let down so much worse. The book was alright, but because of my high hopes it left a sour taste in my mouth.

I think you may be too young to understand the significance, even though I am only a year older, it obviously helped. The eyes are symbolic to the billboard in the Valley of Ashes. They are supposed to represent the eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg.

The cover is designed by Francis Cugat, or at least it was painted by him.

To be honest, you're cover is good, especially for your age, good to see you use vectors, they kick ass XD, but it is too crowded, like with the borderline collage look. Also, there is no symbolism on it like the original had (along with most successful book covers), there are just photos, well, beside the glass of champagne.

Good job though!
